Jon Bardola has worked in
various actuarial and line management positions for Zurich Financial Services
Group ("Zurich")
since 1989. As from 1996 he has served as the deputy of the Corporate
Chief Life Actuary. At the beginning of 2003, he was appointed Corporate
Chief Life Actuary and Head of Corporate Support of "Zurich’s" multinational Life and Financial
Services businesses. Most recently (2006/07) Jon worked as senior consultant for the Tillinghast business of Towers Perrin providing consulting services in various Continental European countries. Then he founded FS-Consulta GmbH in 2007.
Jon has very wide
senior management experiences, particularly in life insurance areas such as:
Calculating, consolidating, reporting and using
Embedded Value (EV) techniques ("Zurich"
was the first major Continental European insurer to publish EV results)
Developing and implementing new EEV / MCEV
(market consistent) standards and supervising calculations
Controlling & planning, financial reporting and analysis in general
(US-GAAP, IFRS, EV with their bridges)
Monitoring solvency, developing and implementing RBC and capital adequacy models (economic capital, solvency II, Swiss solvency testing / SST)
Actuarial risk management and Asset and Liability Management (ALM)
Management of stochastic modeling projects and of teams using EV reporting software tools
Supporting business units and life insurance companies on wide variety
of actuarial and other issues
Organizing training, knowledge management
and best practice transfer within the actuarial community
Life reinsurance businesses
Management of Swiss group life insurance business (2nd pillar, BVG)
Jon Bardola has a
Masters degree in Mathematics from the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in
Zurich, from
where he graduated in 1980. He has been a full member of the SAA, the Swiss
association of actuaries, since 1980 (qualified actuary).
His mother tongues are Italian and German; he is fluent in English and French.
